Almost $60K Raised for Charities
We started our charitable arm, HomeGrown Charities, less than 2 years ago, and we've already raised over almost $60,000 for Atlanta organizations! Over the past year, Stella has raised over $18,000 through dine-outs & special events for Oakland Cemetery, Zoo Atlanta Pandas, Atlanta Tornado Relief, Crime Stoppers John Henderson Reward Fund, Neighborhood Charter School, Grant Park Cooperative Preschool, Atlanta Charter Middle School, Grant Park Pool, Grant Park Parents Network and many others.
STELLAAA! Yelling Contest Winners
Thanks to all who attended our 1st birthday party last Sunday. We raised over $2,450 to help fund tornado repairs for historic Oakland Cemetery. Congrats to our 2nd annual STELLAAA! Yelling Contest winners, Thinh Nguyen and Jeremy Morgan, who both received $100 gift cards for their creative interpretations of the famous Marlon Brando scream from A Streetcar Named Desire. Check out one of the dramatic performances on YouTube here.
We support Georgia Farmers

We use locally-grown and organic ingredients whenever possible while keeping our commitment to affordability. Using Georgia farmers strengthens the local economy, supports endangered family farms, protects the environment through reducing carbon dioxide emissions through shorter travel distances, and ensures the food we serve has exceptional taste and freshness. We use grass-fed beef and Berkshire pork from Riverview Farms, an organic family farm on 150 acres in the foothills of the Appalachians in Northwest Georgia. Our polenta is made from coarse unbleached corn grits ground locally at Logan Turnpike Mill in Blairsville, GA. We also get the freshest seasonal produce from TaylOrganic Farm / Split Cedar Farm (Henry County, GA) and Dillwood Farm (Loganville, GA). Stay tuned to our monthly emails to learn more about Stella’s family farms and locally-grown ingredients.
6 Ways We're Your Affordably 'Green' Trattoria:
- Green Power - We're supporting the generation of clean energy in the US by offsetting 100% of our electricity annually. Our commitment is similar to planting 2,400 trees, not burning 266,000 pounds of coal, or not driving 630,000 miles.
- Organic - Many of the ingredients we use are organic, including tomatoes, wheat flour for our made-from-scratch bread and hand-tossed pizza dough, and many of our meats. The result in pure food that is free of chemicals from pesticides, fertilizers, additives, antibiotics and growth hormones, and is both nourishing for you and our fragile environment.
- Locally grown - We support local Georgia farmers. Our polenta comes from Logan Turnpike Mill in North Georgia, and many of our organic meats are from Riverview Farms located in the foothills of the Georgia mountains. Riverview specializes in organic, grass-fed beef and pastured Berkshire pork, the oldest pure breed of pig in the US, which is antibiotic, hormone-free and fed only organic food grown at Riverview farm. Locally grown foods reduce the amount of pollution associated with transportation primarily by fossil fuels. Plant-based foods require fewer natural resources and create less pollution per calorie consumed.
- Water Efficiency & Conservation - We use water saving products including low-flow Energy Star toilets and faucets, and eliminate needless water usage.
- Recycle - We use recyclable packaging and recycle cardboard, glass, and even recycle our used fryer oil into biofuel!
- Green Building - Stella is located in the Oakland Park building, Atlanta's first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified lofts. Green building construction practices significantly reduce or eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment, occupants, and the local community.
Stella’s 1st Birthday Raises $2,450 for Oakland Cemetery
Thanks to all who attended our first birthday party! We donated 100% of proceeds to help fund repairs to tornado damage at Oakland Cemetery across the street.
Breakfast with Santa Raises $3,000 for Grant Park fire station
Thanks to the neighborhood families who attended our first annual Breakfast with Santa, we raised $3,000 for the Grant Park fire station on Boulevard! The money will be used to purchase items on the station’s wish list to make improvements for the comfort of our neighborhood heroes.
Over $45,000 Raised at Dine Out for a Safer ATL
A huge thanks to all who attended the Dine Out for a Safer Atlanta last Wednesday. We had 79 restaurants participate by donating 20% of proceeds, which raised over $40,000! The funds will be used to make the Crime Stoppers John Henderson reward fund the largest in the program's history and to help take other criminals off the streets through the Crime Stoppers program. Henderson, a 27 year-old bartender at The Standard in Grant Park, was shot to death Jan. 7 in a closing time robbery. Anyone with information on the robbery and homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477. To learn more about Crime Stoppers, visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. $11,400 donated to Tornado Victims
Thanks to all who attended the Dine Out for Tornado Relief on the one month anniversary of the Atlanta tornado. Event proceeds from participating restaurants will be donated to helping tornado victims through the Cabbagetown Initiative disaster relief fund. If you’re interested in learning more about Cabbagetown Initiative or how you can help tornado victims, visit www.cabbagetowninitiative.org.
$5,000 donated to Neighborhood Charter School
In celebration of our grand opening, we raised $4000 to renovate the Neighborhood Charter School lower playfield for the safety of students. During our spring & fall dine-outs, we raised an additional $1000. Currently the field suffers from years of wear and neglect, resulting in an eye-sore for the Grant Park community and unsafe grounds for kids. Stella's renovation project will do wonders to transform the old field into one filled with the laughter of kids playing. The area will be used for recess, physical education classes and after-school programs. Visit this page periodically or sign-up for our e-newsletter to learn more about upcoming fund raising events.
